For over 55 years the Oberlin Filter Company has been guided by the principle: Make Filtration Systems that Really Work. They have an excellent group of experienced engineers, salesmen, designers, welders, plumbers, electricians, servicemen, and laboratory technicians. They work with their customers to determine the best filtration systems for their application, build it, help start integrate it, and provide support throughout its lifetime. There are Oberlin filters that have been operating continuously for over 40 years!

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge for Oberlin Filter was three-fold:

  1. Provide a headquarters for their entire team.
  2. Provide a state of the art production facility to enhance collaboration between their teams.
  3. Having outgrown their existing facility, they needed to secure more space for their growing production workload, hold inventory and orders in-house.

Our team got to work exploring land and development opportunities for this new facility, and designing an innovative facility that met all of the demands of their business.

THE RESULT

Our team located a site near their current building, worked through rezoning with the City, and subsequently designed and built a new 96,000 SF headquarters facility with overhead and Jib cranes, manufacturing and paint shop areas, and a two-story office that overlooked the Waukesha airport. The building was designed for full semi-trucks to pull into the building and load and unload flatbeds from the interior overhead cranes. In addition, it boasts hydronic heat floors across the warehouse and production area, has a downdraft paint booth that allows equipment to be moved in on overhead cranes, and the building was designed to expand to the South including the cranes when the company continues to grow.
